MEANING
The registered instrument that conveys land for a price — the paper every title chain is built from.
Executed on stamp paper and registered before the Sub-Registrar, with duty charged on the higher of the consideration and the government market value. Under Bhu Bharati, registration of agricultural land triggers automatic mutation in the record of rights.
