Pahani

పహాణీ pahāṇi

Also: Adangal

MEANING

The village land register — for every survey number, who owns it, who cultivates it, what crop stands on it, and what it owes.

The pahani (called adangal in Andhra areas) is the single most-consulted revenue record. One row per survey number, columns for extent, classification, assessment, pattadar, possessor, crop and water source. Updated annually after azmoish. Today it is generated from the Bhu Bharati portal, but older manual pahanis remain vital evidence in land disputes.
