MEANING
The record-of-rights register — owner-wise listing of holdings, where the pahani is survey-number-wise.
Where the pahani answers "who holds this survey number?", the 1B answers "what does this person hold?" — each khata aggregates one pattadar's parcels. The 1B extract and pahani extract together are the standard proof of landholding for schemes, banks and courts.
