MEANING

The Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty — the government-run SHG empire, still called IKP in the villages.

SERP organises women's self-help groups into village organisations and mandal samakhyas, drives bank linkage, and fields an army of community cadres. Its paddy procurement centres and community machinery make it a constant partner of the mandal administration.
