Ration Card

MEANING

The PDS entitlement card — "white card" in speech, Food Security Card on paper, and the default proof of being poor for a dozen other schemes.

Telangana's Food Security Cards (2015) replaced the old white ration cards, but the colour stuck as the word for BPL status. A fresh round of cards has been issued from 2025 out of the Praja Palana applications; inclusion and deletion grievances are steady Prajavani fare.
