The government servant of the gram panchayat — records, taxes, births and deaths, meetings and their minutes.

The permanent official half of the panchayat, counterpart to the elected sarpanch. Registers births and deaths, collects house tax, executes gram sabha decisions and answers for panchayat records at every inspection.
