MEANING

The village grazing ground — commons poramboke reserved for cattle, and a favourite target of encroachers.

Kancha lands appear by name in village records ("Gurram Kancha" and its cousins). Being poramboke, they cannot be assigned; freeing them is a standard encroachment-removal file.
