చెరువు MEANING
The irrigation tank — the signature waterbody of Telangana, and a bundle of government land with its own vocabulary.
The Kakatiya-era chain tanks still irrigate much of the state; Minor Irrigation is custodian, revenue removes encroachments. The tank bed is shikam, the bund is gattu, the sluice is tumu, the command below is ayacut, and the water-spread limit is the FTL.
