The departmental tests: the exams of probation
A probationary Deputy Collector must clear the Revenue Tests Parts I–III (paper codes 18 & 27, 43, 62), the Accounts Test for Executive Officers (141) and the Translation Test (19 & 28) in TGPSC's May/November departmental sessions, plus the Division-D Principles of Revenue Survey paper in the March/September Half-Yearly Examinations and the Rule 13 Telugu language test. Most papers are 2-hour objective CBTs, with books, pass mark 40 out of 100. Failure extends probation and can end in discharge; a late pass pushes back your notional probation date and seniority.

The Revenue Tests, paper by paper
Revenue Test Part-I is two papers: paper code 18 covers the Acts common to the old composite state (Encroachment Act 1905, Revenue Recovery Act 1864, Survey & Boundaries Act 1923, Land Acquisition Act 1894 and their BSOs), and paper code 27 covers the Telangana-area corpus (Land Revenue Act 1317 F, RoR Regulation 1358 F, District Office Manual). Part-II (43) is village and taluk accounts; Part-III (62) is a wide Group A + Group B sweep from the Stamp Act to the Ceiling Act. All are 2-hour with-books CBTs, pass mark 40. The syllabus still lists the pre-Bhu Bharati law — prepare from the old Acts until a revising G.O. issues.

The EOT: accounts for officers who will sign bills
The Accounts Test for Executive Officers (paper code 141) is a 2-hour with-books objective CBT, 100 marks, pass 40, on the syllabus revised by G.O.Ms.No. 47, Finance (Admn.I), dt. 03-06-2023: selected chapters of the TS Financial Code, Treasury Code and Budget Manual, chapters of 'An Introduction to Indian Government Accounts and Audit', Constitution Articles 148–151, 202–207, 264–293 and 308–314, and the TS Pension Code. It is the exam version of the DDO's daily life — bills, budget, treasury control, audit and pension.

Survey, translation and Telugu: the conventional papers
Three tests sit outside the CBT machinery. The Division-D Principles of Revenue Survey paper (Higher Standard) is written in the March/September Half-Yearly Examinations, and only after a certificate of training in Survey, Settlement and Treasury & Accounts. The Translation Test (paper codes 19 & 28) is two 3-hour descriptive papers — English into the chosen language and back — both to be passed at one sitting, 40 out of 100 in each. The Rule 13 Telugu language test must be passed within probation: failure extends probation and postpones increments without cumulative effect, with an exemption possible at age 45.
